Capturing from VHS

Can anyone help me capture some stuff of a VHS tape ???

no I dont want to spend money - if I did, I wouldnt be asking.

Are you talking about information, equipment, or what.

Is it your own material or are you looking to reedit your favorite movie clips?

A number of personal ethics apply when it comes to rerecording.

Court has nothing to do with if you can look yourself in the mirror.

And as a responsible film maker I think it is our goal to think first what will be the effect of our actions.

Is this going to hurt someone else or myself by act or omission?

It goes back to the old thievs code.

"Whatever isn't nailed down is mine, anything I can pry loose isn't nailed down."

the other side of that coin is;

"It is not what you steal but who you steal if from."

To a large extent we are delving into a mutation of the intelectual property concept.

I have no problem with making "back up" copies of programs for friends, or using a programming trick I have seen or learned because I am a programmer myself.

The same is true of film.


However to steal for profit from someone who is just geting started is not a good thing.


I am not saying this is what you have in mind or are even asking about but while we are on the subject.

i think he just wants to copy some clips to edit. .

get a tv card 50 quid,connect vcr, use software which should be supplied to turn it to avi and save it. if you want desent quality download a converter.if its big convert it to mpeg. u need a good machine though. do audio with sound card then sync it with premiere. its easy i did it when i was 14
